Conference on Supporting the Diversification of Exports in the Caribbean/Latin American Region through the Development of Organic Horticulture

Trinidad and Tobago, 08/10/2001 - 10/10/2001

The Conference focused on the market situation and outlook for organic fruit and vegetables and on the ways in which countries in the Region can take advantage of potential market opportunities. The economies of many developing countries are dependent on the export of a relatively small number of (mostly agricultural) commodities. Organic fruit and vegetable markets offer potential for countries to increase their export earnings and diversify their agricultural base.
