Sub-Group on Hides and Skins, 9th Session, February 2006
The Ninth Session of the Sub-Group on Hides and Skins will be held in Arusha, the United Republic of Tanzania, during the period 1 to 3 February 2006.
The formal Session of the Sub-Group will be held on Thursday 2 February. This will be preceded by a one-day informal consultation on hides and skins to be held on Wednesday 1 February 2006. In addition to the informal and formal Sessions, a field trip will be organised, on Friday 3 February 2006, including visits to a tannery and/or a slaughter house and/or any project site of the CFC-sponsored projects in the area. It should be noted that, according to the rules that govern participation at the intergovernmental Sessions, delegates to the formal Session must be officially accredited by their governments while members of recognised international organisations are invited as observers. The informal consultation will be open to all interested individuals/organisations.
Also, arrangements will be made for interested delegates to visit Ngorongoro Crater following the meetings. Geologically, Ngorongoro is the remnant of a volcano that blew apart, leaving a flat plain area ringed with steep walls. It is a haven for tens of thousands of big East African wild animals in north central Tanzania. The wildlife includes lions, elephants, zebras, rhinos, gazelles, water buffaloes etc.
