The Government of Kenya, assisted by the United Nations Development
Programme and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, are
engaged in project KEN/86/027, Development of Small-Scale Fish Farming in the Lake
Basin.
As a part of the projects operations, FAO assigned Dr. A.G.J. Tacon as Fish Feed
Consultant from 26 February to 28 March 1991 with the following terms of reference:
- to make a survey of the fish feed commonly utilized by individual and group fish
farmers in the lake area
- to critically review the experimental fish feed products (eg. pellets) developed by
the Project KEN/86/027
- to advise on improvements in fish feed to be introduced both in the Project
centres and on private farms
- to develop suitable products for use by the Project in its own centres and its
extension activities
- to submit to the Director, FIO a brief report summarising his activities and giving
his recommendations for future action.
