  LEGISLATION
Local fishing vessel
defined as fishing vessel at least halfowned by national of Cameroon or another state with which reciprocal agreement concluded. -Where vessels belong to a company, registered office must be in Cameroon, the Chairman of the Board, the General Manager and majority of members of the Board must be Cameroon nationals, and at least 50% of the share capital must be held by Cameroon nationals or nationals of another state with which a reciprocal agreement has been concluded.

CAMEROON LEGISLATION

AGREEMENTS

-Guinean vessels to hold a permit issued by state of origin.
-Fishing operations forbidden in estuaries and within 2 mile zone reserved for artisanal fishing.
-Each vessel must weigh less than 500 GRT.
-Catch may be landed only in flag state. ports.
LEGISLATION
-By-catch of protected species to be reported by sex, size, quantity and zone, in catch statement. (Art. 24)
-Catch must be landed locally in order to gather statistical data. (Art. 35)
-Licensee to maintain fishing logbook in a prescribed form. (Art. 36)

% = Reports must be made every 3 days for vessels from Norway, Sweden and Faroes when fishing for herring, weekly when fishing for other species .

* = Country is a part to the South Pacific FFA arrangement which stipulates that licences will not be issued to foreign fishing vessels unless those vessels are listed in good standing on the FFA - maintained regional register of fishing vessels .
