FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS IN FOREST GENETIC RESOURCES:

This Appendix (based on Information Note FORGEN/01/5) summarizes expenditures of FAO's Regular Programme in Forest Genetic Resources in 2000 (real costs) and 2001 (estimated costs). Activities are described in some detail in Appendix 5. The following Tables are included in the present Appendix:

The Forest Genetic Resources programme is administratively accounted for under three budgetary components:

* Sustainable management of natural forests: as relates to the management of forest genetic resources;

* Forest plantations and planted tree resources: as relates to tree improvement and seed procurement;

* Support to the Panel of Experts on Forest Gene Resources (FAO Statutory Body).

The Homepage on Forest Genetic Resources has been redesigned and contains extensive information on the programmes

Updating of information has also been carried out by a volunteer with no financial implications.

This includes contributions to updating the Tree Seed Suppliers Directory, a CD ROM on Biodiversity, training material, and reports on arid zone species.
