The methodology is intended to bring all countries at close levels of forest resources assessment and monitoring. It is therefore not only a review of the methodology in scientific and technical points of view, but it is a matter of decision for the endorsement of the approach in general and for the adoption of the system in their countries.
Donor community endorsement of the GFS in general and of the methodology in particular should be obtained a priori, following the usual procedure of FAO in the matter.
The concurrence of experts from all countries is a prerequisite for the success of the GFS. Regional meetings could be organised for foresters with forest inventory backgrounds and at decision making level.
