Starting year: |
1993 |
Duration: |
10 years |
Project objectives:
· To compare air silo storage and low oxygen silo storage (modified grain silo) to demonstrate an alternative to fumigation and cool storage (which is conventionally in plastic lined wooden bins).· To reduce handling costs to the industry.
· To reduce the need for chemical fumigation.

Starting year: |

Duration: |

Project objectives:
To compare yield and tree size of Nonpareil almond on 10 different rootstocks on deep and shallow calcareous soils.
Project summary:
Hybrid (Nemaguard × almond) outfields all others on both soil types but only because of its large tree size. On deep soils Nemaguards Is next in yielding ability followed by Alnem (Nos 1, 88 and 201). On shallow soil, the Alnems (especially 88) outfield Nemaguard. Seedling almond tends to give lowest yields in both situations. The productivity of the Alnems (de, yield per unit tree size) in particularly high; that of hybrid Is low.
