Appreciation is extended to the pastoralists, farmers and project staff who shared their knowledge and experience, providing a wealth of information and enlightened insights into the condition and use of their pastoral systems, and in particular the four projects noted below.

Chapters One to Four were based on a draft of the Rangeland/Natural Pasture Component of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Guidelines for Natural Resource Management for Rural Poverty Alleviation, written by P.S. Harris. Gratitude is expressed to IFAD for permission to use the draft.
