PREPARATION OF THIS DOCUMENT


This document was prepared by the FishCode Programme of Global Partnerships for Responsible Fisheries of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO/UN). It reports on the Second Workshop on the Management of the Caribbean Spiny Lobster Fisheries of the Western Central Atlantic Fishery Commission (WECAFC) Area held in Havana, Cuba, 30 September - 4 October 2002. The Workshop was organized by FishCode with the guidance and support of WECAFC. Funding for the Workshop, various national preparatory missions, and the preparation of this document was provided through FishCode component projects "Management for Responsible Fisheries" (GCP/INT/648/NOR), with Trust Fund support from the Government of Norway, and "Responsible Fisheries for Small Island Developing States" (GCP/INT/823/JPN), with Trust Fund support from the Government of Japan. The collaboration of the Centro de Investigaciones Pesqueras (CIP) in Havana, Cuba and the CIP Workshop Organizing Committee (Elisa García Rodríguez, Director; Rafael Puga Millán; Romárico Sotomayor Parra; and Maria Estela de León González) is gratefully acknowledged.
