The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is an intergovernmental, technical development agency. It was founded in 1945 to raise nutrition and living standards through improved agricultural production and rural development. Its core strategies include contributing to the eradication of food insecurity and rural poverty; developing policy and regulatory frameworks for food, agriculture, forestry and fisheries; creating sustainable increases in the availability of food and agricultural products; supporting conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources; and improving decision-making through the provision of information.

The International Dairy Federation (IDF) is a non-profit making organization. It was created in 1903 to serve the dairy sector worldwide by providing a platform for exchange of knowledge, experience and ideas among dairy experts. IDF is a source of scientific and technical expertise and of influence in the dairy sector covering a broad variety of issues related to dairying, including dairy farming, emerging countries, technology, hygiene and safety, food standards, methods of analysis and sampling, nutrition and health, economics, marketing and policies.
