Presentation of major land cover categories
MODULAR-HIERARCHICAL PHASE
The hierarchical arrangement of the land cover classifiers assures a high mapability, which is geographical accurate, at the highest levels of the classification.
A land cover class is thus defined by:
1. The string of classifiers used (all classifiers are coded)
2. A standardized descriptive name
3. A unique numerical code for use in geographical information systems (GIS)
