FAO's role in animal health - new thematic page

26 March 2014 -The Animal Health theme page has now been launched on the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) website, amongst other theme pages including 'trade', 'the South South Cooperation', 'Investment in Agriculture', etc.

The theme page acts as a general introduction to animal health and a portal from which to navigate towards more specialised information, departments and networks including: i) the Emergency Prevention System for Animal Health (EMPRES-AH), which develops strategies for intervention and improved management of animal diseases; ii) the Food Chain Crisis Management Framework, which provides a multidisciplinary approach to threats affecting the food chain; and iii) the Crisis Management Centre for Animal Health, which is FAO's rapid response unit working alongside governments to prevent the spread of high-impact animal diseases.

The page also features all the latest publications on animal health issues, from recently published documents on Avian Influenza Risk Assessments to an online version of the yearly journal EMPRES 360. The theme page will help new users and FAO staff navigate the website more easily and is also a useful tool to have an overview of the latest news on animal health.
