Towards the inclusion of livestock in PRSPs
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 20-24 May 2008

PPLPI co-organised and participated in the IGAD-LPI ‘PRSP Training Workshop’, which was held in Addis Ababa on 20-24 May 2008. The workshop was attended by over twenty participants representing of a variety of institutions, including the IGAD-LPI National Technical Focal Points. These are representatives of the IGAD member states, appointed by their respective governments, and perform the technical liaison function between IGAD-LPI and national authorities and carry out project activities in their respective countries. »Read more

Analysing Poultry Sector’s ‘Good Practices’
Gurgaon, India, 7-9 May 2008

The NDDB-FAO South Asia Pro-Poor Livestock Policy Programme (SA-PPLPP) requested PPLPI to assist in drawing policy, programme and institutional lessons from 16 ‘Good Practices’ (GPs) in the poultry sector which SA-PPLPP has identified and documented in Bangladesh, Bhutan and India. A first Learning Event on ‘Analysing poultry sector’s GPs towards implications for policies, institutions and programmes’ was held in Gurgaon on 7-9 May 2008. »Read more

South Asia Pro-Poor Livestock Policy Programme
Thimpu, Bhutan, 21-24 April 2008

PPLPI participated in the 8th Management Board Meeting of the NDDB-FAO South-Asia Pro-Poor Livestock Policy Programme (SA-PPLPP), which constitutes the ‘South Asia hub’ of PPLPI. The MBM was held at in the Livestock Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Bhutan, which organized field visits to a number of communities where it engaged in facilitating the development of livestock production as a means to alleviate rural poverty.  »Read more

Viet Nam Pig Sector Stakeholder Workshop
Hanoi, Viet Nam, 21-25 July 2008

PPLPI will co-organize a ‘Viet Nam Pig Sector Stakeholder Workshop’, in which the EX-ante-Tool-for-RAnking-POLicy-AlTErnatives (EXTRAPOLATE) software, a decision-support tool developed by PPLPI, will be applied jointly by a wide range of stakeholders to identify policy priorities to promote pig-sector development in Viet Nam.
