Management of livestock diversity

Animal genetic resources provide the basis for livestock to provide their wide range of goods and services, which span from meat, milk and eggs to landscape maintenance and financial security. Diversity of this resource is necessary for the livestock sector to continue to improve its efficiency and adjust to changes in climate, markets and consumer demand. The Animal Genetic Resources Branch supports countries in the proper management of their animal genetic resources by providing information, training, technical assistance and policy support.
