Second FAO Electronic Conference on Tropical Feeds

LIVESTOCK FEED RESOURCES WITHIN INTEGRATED FARMING SYSTEMS

(9 September 1996 - 28 February 1997)

This conference aimed to:

collect information from various parts of the world on the feed resources within integrated farming systems with emphasis on complementarity between species, crop production and environment;
exchange available information for discussion among participants;
identify where information is currently missing and set an agenda of priorities for research & development;
identify approaches, methods and tools which could strengthen the identification at farm level of the most relevant farming systems and which could consequently favour the spreading of these identified systems in the areas where they are most appropriate.

This conference included more than 300 subscribers* in 68 countries, out of which 52 are developing countries, and 17 international organizations listed in the following table (* many subscribers have regularly distributed conference material to colleagues either through printing or forwarding messages to them; considering this, the number of total participants is therefore far more than 500).
