XII. OTHER MATTERS

63.     Wickström and Klein Breteler drew attention to the probability that one or more of the Indo-Pacific species of Anguilla have breeding grounds relatively close to the coast. The meeting agreed that the identification of such breeding grounds could provide an extremely valuable source of information on the early development of the other members of the genus. It could yield, at relatively low cost, data of great practical importance which cannot be sought at present because of the high cost of Sargasso Sea investigations. Wickström and Klein Breteler were requested to present a more detailed proposal to the next Session.
