CHANGES IN REPRESENTATION OF MEMBER NATIONS ON THE FINANCE COMMITTEE

(Rome, 6-7 October 2003)

1. Rule XXVII-4(a) of the General Rules of the Organization (GRO) states that "If the representative of a Member of the Committee is expected to be unable to attend a session of the Committee, or if, due to incapacity, death or any other reason, he is prevented from exercising his functions for the remainder of the term for which the Member he represents has been elected, that Member shall inform the Director-General and the Chairman as soon as possible, and may designate a substitute representative who shall have the qualifications and experience referred to in paragraph 1 of this Rule. The Council shall be informed of the qualifications and experience of the substitute representative".

2. By letter dated 8 July 2003, Ms Lucy Tamlyn, Acting Permanent Representative of the United States of America to FAO, informed the Director-General that Mr J. Michael Cleverley, Deputy Permanent Representative would replace Ms Carolee Heileman, former Deputy Permanent Representative, as the Government Representative of the United States of America as of the Hundred and Fourth Session of the Finance Committee. The Chairman of the Finance Committee was also informed.

3. A summary of the qualifications of Mr J. Michael Cleverley (Appendix A) is attached for the information of the Council.

4. By letter dated 16 July 2003, Mr Salik Nazir Ahmed, Additional Secretary-in-Charge, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock of Pakistan, informed the Director-General that Mr Mohammad Saleem Khan, Joint Secretary (Development Plan/International Cooperation), Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock of Pakistan would replace Mr Adnan Bashir Khan, former Alternate Representative, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan as the Government Representative of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan as of the Hundred and Fourth Session of the Finance Committee. The Chairman of the Finance Committee was also informed.

5. A summary of the qualifications of Mr Muhammad Saleem Khan (Appendix B) is attached for the information of the Council.

6. By Note Verbale dated 11 September 2003, the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Chile to FAO, informed the Organization that Mr Antonio Plaza Jiménez, Alternate Permanent Representative, would replace Mr Humberto Molina Reyes, Chairman of the Finance Committee, who was unable to attend, as the Government Representative for the Hundred and Fifth Session of the Finance Committee.

7. A summary of the qualifications of Mr Antonio Plaza Jiménez (Appendix C) is attached for the information of the Council.
