CFS:2004/4

COMMITTEE ON WORLD FOOD SECURITY

Thirtieth Session

Rome, 20-23 September 2004

EXTRACTS RELATED TO THE FOLLOW-UP TO THE WORLD FOOD SUMMIT FROM THE REPORTS OF THE FAO REGIONAL CONFERENCES

1. The Council, at its One Hundred and Fifteenth Session, in 1998, agreed that the Committee's sessions in even years should be scheduled so as to take advantage of the results of the Regional Conference debates as much as possible. Subsequently the CFS meetings in even years, beginning in 2000, have been rescheduled to be held after all Regional Conference sessions had finished their work.

2. In application of this procedure the Committee is invited to take into consideration the contribution of the FAO Regional Conferences held in 2004, all of whom had a common agenda item entitled “Follow-Up to the World Food Summit and the World Food Summit:five years later – Regional Dimensions”. The extracts from Regional Conference Reports referring to the follow-up to the World Food Summit, are contained in the Supplementary documents CFS:2004/4 Sup 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
