FOCUS: FAO PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMMES

In 1994, FAO Director-General Jacques Diouf launched three Partnership Programmes:

  • Programme for the use of experts for TCDC (Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries) and TCCT (Technical Cooperation among Countries in Transition)
  • Programme for cooperation with academic and research institutions
  • Programme for the use of retired experts

The Programmes aim to strengthen FAO’s partnership with Member Nations, enhance the cost-effectiveness and relevance of the Organization’s work, and promote the national and collective self-reliance of the developing countries through the pooling of their institutional and human resources.

This Focus offers a brief introduction to each of the three programmes, interviews with experts who have worked under the programmes, as well as with the Chief of FAO’s TCDC Unit, Mr Ramadhar, and articles on selected projects.

More detailed and technical information is available on the Partnership Programme Home Page.
