Our TeleFood herd
The goats belong to a women's cooperative, called El Hadaf, which means goal in Arabic. I am a member, together with 20 other women. As I live next to the barn, I am the main guardian, but the women take turns looking after the goats.
We were given about 50 goats by the Ministry of Agriculture and by TeleFood but now we have about 100. We doubled the herd in one year!
The goats are called draa goats, a very drought-resistant breed from the south of Morocco. They produce a lot of milk and are not very demanding in terms of food and water. |
