GOFC-GOLD
participated in the 31st International Symposium on Remote
Sensing of Environment. The symposium theme was Global
Monitoring for Sustainability and Security, with a particular
focus on implementation of the Global Earth Observation
System of Systems (GEOSS).
At the symposium, GOFC-GOLD addressed the GEOSS Societal
Benefit for improving the management and protection of
terrestrial, coastal, and marine ecosystems. Two plenary
and technical presentations addressed the needs for terrestrial
observations from GEOSS in the context of GOFC-GOLD and
the IGOS-P Theme on Integrated Global Observations of
the Land (see presentation

2).
