Introduction

Dynamic
Atlas is an FAO information management system for spatial
(map), image, tabular (spreadsheet) and unstructured (document)
data as well as metadata. The software allows the user to
store, recall and generate information making it more accessible
and useful. To date the software has been used for a number
of projects in various countries including Afghanistan, Canada,
Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Lesotho, Libya, Venezuela and Yemen.
Dynamic Atlas is made up of a suite of programmes which includes:
Dynamic Maps, which is a desktop solution for data visualization
and mapping capability, and Dynamic Atlas, which enables all
the information to be kept in one structured database (warehouse),
thus promoting standards and data sharing.
