TEMS improved architecture and direct access to scientific metadata and datasets

The following improvements have been made to the TEMS architecture and functionality:

Access to scientific metadata and datasets is available through the GTOS matrix developed in partnership with the Global Observing Systems Information Center (GOSIC) and NASA Global Change Master Directory (GCMD). The matrix offers direct access to GCMD scientific metadata records relevant to key global change issues which were selected by GTOS scientific panels experts.

New module entirely focusing on mountains provides a unique overview of the global environmental issues related to this important ecosystem. More specifically it contains a list of the key monitoring variables to measure, links to the main data providers, a description of the main networks and research organizations, etc.

The dynamic map interface includes an additional mountain map. Using the legend filter it is possible to identify sites located in mountain areas.

The updated search engine offers new possibilities, such as finding the variables measured relevant to a specific theme. For each network it is also possible to view all the variables measured by all its member sites. Thus it offers a simple way to start a gap analysis and understand what is measured and where.

Special topics i.e. Biodiversity, Coastal, etc. can be reached directly from the navigation bar.

Improved information accuracy and timeliness of site data updates has been facilitated by simplifying the remote access and maintenance of the data by the sites managers.

A contact person is now available for each network, in order to retrieve information for all the monitoring sites of a network.
