The Constitution of the African Network for the Development of Horticulture (RADHORT) was adopted in Rome (Italy) on 14 April 2000 by a Constituent Assembly convened for that purpose.
In accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 22 of the Constitution, the States referred to in paragraph 1 of Article 6 (Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal) may become Member States to the Constitution through the deposit of an instrument of acceptance, accompanied or followed by the payment of a contribution to the RADHORT Fund.
Paragraph 4 of Article 21 states that the Constitution shall come into effect as soon as at least five of the States referred to in paragraph 1 of Article 6 have accepted it and paid their contribution to the RADHORT Fund. The Constitution will subsequently come into effect for those States that accept it on the date of deposit of their instrument of acceptance, accompanied by payment of their contribution to the Fund. To date, three States have accepted the Constitution and paid their contributions. Thus, the Constitution is not yet in force.
