Abstract: This Sourcebook is a joint project of the World Bank, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). It combines descriptive accounts with practical operational guidance on to how to design agriculture-for development strategies that capitalize effectively on the unique properties of agricultural growth and rural development involving women and men as a high-impact source of poverty reduction. Module 2 on “Gender and Agricultural Livelihoods: Strengthening Governance” specifically deals with decentralization and community-driven development , self-help groups and farmer organizations in the agricultural sector. Module 5 on” Gender and Agricultural Markets” highlights the linkages between collective action and markets, as well as the importance of capacity development for small-scale women entrepreneurs. Module 7 on “Gender in Agricultural Innovation and Education” includes considerations on gender and participatory research.
