The Micro watershed as a place for planning the use and
management of natural resources, Socio-Territorial approach

Indivisible interactions take place in the micro watershed between the economic aspects (related to assets and services produced in its area), social aspects (related to behavior patterns of direct and indirect users of the watershed resources) and environmental aspects (in relation to how natural resources behave or react under the aforementioned aspects). Therefore, the actions to be carried out in the micro watershed must take all these interactions into consideration.

Characteristics, transformations and sustainability of soybean expansion in MERCOSUR
Taking into consideration the remarkable expansion of soybean, the changes it has been producing, and the perspective that the growth of this crop will continue during the following years, which all together mean new challenges and implications in the framework of food security policies and rural development, FAO in collaboration with the governments of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay in these countries.

Workshop on " Opportunities and challenges of DR-CAFTA for the agriculture of Dominican Republic"
This workshop was carried out from 10 to 11 November 2005 in Dominican Republic in response to a request submitted by the President of that country to FAO Director-General, Dr. Jacques Diouf when they met in Costa Rica in November 2004 where several FAO technical assistance activities to Dominican Republic were agreed.

IMARK E-learning module on "Management of Electronic Documents"
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is pleased to announce on behalf of the Information Management Resource Kit (IMARK) Steering Group, the release of the spanish version of the e-learning module entitled: "Management of Electronic Documents". This module offers information on how to create, prepare, store and disseminate electronic documents and images. The International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) have been collaborating with FAO to adapt the contents of the module into Spanish.

Family Agriculture in a context of Commercial Opening: "Impacts and Prospects"
It is feared that in the present context, FA may not count with the necessary tools to adjust itself and implement the new sanitary protocols that regulate and restrain the opportunities of access to new markets (IFPRI, 2003) nor to compete with "highly subsidized" products coming from industrialized countries.

Book "Food Security Policies in the Countries of the Andean Community"
The publication starts off analyzing the complex concept of food security, to later on present its problematic as from a subregional approach. An analysis of food security is made in each one of the Andean countries, and a national strategy proposal to fight food insecurity in each country is presented. In the last chapter, there is justification for the need to count with a regional strategy outlining its possible components.
