This site is meant to be a contribution to the promotion of Productive
Alliances in agriculture, as an information tool favoring the development
of productive/agrofood chains through entailments between different
stakeholders representing public, entrepreneurial and small producers
sectors of the region of Latin America and the Caribbean. The Regional Office has developed the concept of Productive Alliances
in response to the exhaustion of the traditional model of development
based on the use of comparative static advantages. The concept
of Productive Alliances corresponds to the capacity to coordinate
efforts, resources and abilities of the different sectors of society
to jointly approach the complex problems of the productive phase
and to take advantage of the interaction and complementariness
of the strengths and weaknesses of the different productive agents
with the purpose of adding value to their products.
The importance of the establishment of productive alliances lies
in the fact that it would improve the insertion of the agricultural
producers in the productive chains to face the problems of access
to markets, information, financing, infrastructure, technological
innovation, as well as the deficient institutional capacity generated
by the structural reforms and the globalization of the economic
activities.
This page will try to promote initiatives that generate businesses
and investment opportunities to improve the levels of small
agriculture competitiveness, through the promotion of forums
and businesses rounds, as well as encourage the establishment
of entrepreneurial management centers between small producers
associations and/or agroenterprises, addressing particularly
the technical education and development of negotiating capacities
of the own productive agents.
