One of FAO’s targets in the global strategic framework is the conservation, improvement and sustainable utilization of natural resources, including land, water, forests, fisheries and genetic resources for food and agriculture. In our Region the challenge consists in determining and promoting integrated resource management systems that are at the same time economically viable, ecologically sustainable and cultural and socially adequate, in order to meet the requirements of an increasing population ever more urbanized.
