Livestock and Environment

The livestock sector is suffering dramatic changes forced by an increasing population, income increases and progressive urbanization. The demand for livestock products in the developing world is expected to double its size during the next two decades. The increase in animal production may have negative consequences for the environment unless the necessary measures are taken to ensure that the base of natural resources (soil, vegetation, water, air) maybe maintained while increasing food production and that zoogenetic resources are preserved.

In this section you will find the most recent information on global experiences and of the American Continent, related to animal production, environment and livestock genetic resources conservation.
