Programme Themes

SARD-related publications of FAO are the product of many different sub-programmes of the organization's regular programme of work. These have been clustered around three thematic thrusts that address one or more of the programme areas of AGenda 21, Chapter 14 (SARD). The three thematic thrusts are:

  • Sustainable Livelihoods

  • Sustainable Intensification of Integrated Production Systems

  • Integrated Natural Resource Management

    • Clustering of FAO programmes and activities around these three thrusts is shown in Table 2 of the document on Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development and Good Agriculture Practice presented to COAG 19 in April 2005.

    Publication Categories

    FAO publishes numerous reports on its own account and in collaboration with other stakeholders that relate to priority themes and emerging issues for SARD. These include:
