Regional Focal Point Sub Saharan Africa, who started in March 2008, is assessing the policies, institutions and processes applied in Ethiopia for the development of mountain regions. The methodology includes household survey using structured questionnaire, interviews and discussions with communities, through focus group discussions involving government institutions, officials and experts. Documentation review and use of secondary data are also core components of the study methodology.
Having circulated a draft report which pinpoints strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, the Regional Focal Point held on 22nd May 2009 in Addis Ababa a consultative workshop with Ethiopian stake holders (national/ federal and sub-regional levels): the workshop gave confirmation of these findings; they will be put online during the summer.
