| FAO study on the impact of solar photovoltaic systems on rural development |
| The main objective of the FAO study is to assess the impact of PV systems on rural development - both the area and intensity of the impact (e.g. agricultural, social or rural industry development) and to identify the main beneficiaries of the impact, as well as to contribute to its improvement. |

| FAO collaboration with the International Energy Agency on renewable energy technologies |
| The International Energy Agency (IEA) invited FAO to participate in an IEA/OECD Workshop on National Programmes on Renewable Energy and the 29th Meeting of the IEA/OECD Working Party on Renewable Energy Technologies. Both meetings were held in Rome on 20-22 May 1996. The possibilities, benefits and implications of joint collaboration were also assesed. |
