  South-South Cooperation

South-South Cooperation (SSC) is an initiative by FAO, to support the implementation of the Special Programme for Food Security of FAO. It is based on an approach where a more developed country can provide specific technical assistance to another developing country, which is participating in the Special Programme for Food Security. Under SSC, technical experts and field technicians from the more developed countries work in the field of other developing countries for 2-3 years, not only to share their experiences, but also to transfer new techniques or knowledge from their countries and to encourage the better use of local resources. For more information on SSC, please see the South-South Cooperation page in FAO SPFS web site.

Within the SPFS Asia Programmed, there are South-south Cooperation components in the SPFS Bangladesh (GCP/BGD/033/JPN) and SPFS Laos (GCP/LAO/011/JPN) projects.
