DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Chief, Agricultural and Food Engineering Technologies Service and the direct supervision of the Senior Agro-industries Officer, will:

  • Participate in the provision of technical assistance to FAO member countries to support the growth of industries related to sericulture and beneficial insects; as required participate in the support of field projects;
  • Assist in the organization of, and participate in, regional and national workshops related to sericulture and benefiical insects;
  • prepare in draft form portions of technical papers for discussion and publication;
  • Perform other related duties as required.
* A staff member’s promotion to this post will be limited to the duration of assignment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:

  • University Degree in Agriculture with studies related to Sericulture and/or Beneficial Insects
  • Three years of relevant experience related to sericulture and/or beneficial insects
  • Working knowledge of English, French or Spanish and a limited knowledge of one of the other two languages

SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be assessed against the following:

  • Level and relevance of academic qualifications
  • Extent and relevance of professional experience related to sericulture and/or beneficial insects
  • Ability to provide technical advice on matters related to sericulture and/or beneficial insects
  • Quality of communication skills on technical issues

Please note that all candidates should possess computer/word processing skills and should be capable of working with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

REMUNERATION

Level P-2 carries a net salary per year (inclusive of a variable element for post adjustment) from US$ 61894 US$ 76094 (without dependants) and from US$ 65987 to US$ 81549 (with dependants)
