DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Chief, Evaluation Service (PBEE), and the direct supervision of a Senior Evaluation Officer, to:

• Contribute to evaluation studies for FAO’s Governing Bodies, and carry out specific background research;
• Provide support to project evaluations, including inputs into the drafting of reports;
• Undertake evaluation reviews , including web-based surveys, and analyse survey results;
• Participate to the development of information products on the results and lessons from evaluation;
• Support development and maintenance of the evaluation website;
• Participate in the development of FAO’s evaluation procedures and methods;
• Perform other related duties as required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:

• University Degree in agriculture, economics, or related social sciences;
• Three years of relevant experience in the analysis of agricultural and rural development issues at the international level;
• Working knowledge of English.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be assessed against the following:

• Relevance and level of academic qualifications within evaluation, agriculture, rural development, economics or the social  sciences;
• Relevance of work experience including experience in developing countries,
• Fluency in English and knowledge of one or more of the other languages of FAO (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish and Russian);
• Willingness to undertake extensive duty travel;
• Ability to write clear and concise reports.

Please note that all candidates should possess computer/word processing skills and should be capable of working with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
* The length of appointment for internal FAO candidates will be established in accordance with applicable policies pertaining to the extension of appointments.
