Job Profile: Finance Officer (P-2/3) Duty Station Rome
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the general supervision of a Service Chief in AFF and under the direct supervision of a more senior Finance Officer, the incubent will be responsible for financial and management accounting of the programmes, funds and reserves as well as maintenance of the accounting control environment. More specifically, he/she will:
- Maintain the Organization's financial and management accounting systems;
- Monitor the Organization's accounts and reports with a view to ensuring quality;
- Identify the need for and propose changes to improve the Organization's systems and procedures in terms of increased effectiveness and efficiency;
- Draft financial statements and management reports;
- Prepare financial analyses on budgetary and financial accounting data;
- Provide ad-hoc training in the financial management of projects and programmes as appropriate;
- Test the integrity of accounting and financial business systems;
- Perform other related duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Advanced university degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field or certification from a recognised specialized professional institute in accounting (CA or CPA are equivalent);
- Three to five years of relevant experience in accounting;
- Working knowledge of English. Limited knowledge of French, Spanish or Russian would be an asset.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Overall level and relevance of experience in accounting and in managing accounting functions. Professional experience gained in international audit and accounting firms would be a distinct advantage;
- Extent of analytical skills;
- Client focus" oriented and commitment to results;
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member and with limited supervision;
- Extent of communication skills, both written and oral on financial matters;
- Extent of knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. Oracle Financials) and reporting tools.
