Job Profile: Systems Support Officer (P-2) Duty Station Rome
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the general supervision of the Senior Officer, Information Systems Management Group and the direct supervision of the relevant team leader, the incumbent will provide technical support to enterprise and stand-alone application systems utilized by the Organization in accordance with standard IT procedures and guidelines in place at FAO. In particular, he/she will:
- Maintain, troubleshoot and provide technical and administrative support for information systems in production to ensure system availability, functionality and accessibility;
- Coordinate tier-2 and tier-3 support requests as foreseen in the ITIL methodology;
- Analyse systems performance and make recommendations for optimization;
- Collect capacity data and make recommendations for upgrades and enhancements to keep up with growth in utilization;
- Assist in upgrades/modifications to production systems as per defined guidelines and procedures;
- Perform appropriate tests and pre-implementation activities;
- Maintain up-to-date documentation on changes, problem resolution and system configuration;
- Participate in IT projects by developing application software;
- Perform other related duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- University Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a closely related field of specialisation;
- Three years of relevant experience in application systems maintenance, support and implementation which includes two years of experience;
- Working with distributed architectures and relational database management systems;
- Working knowledge of English. Limited knowledge of French, Spanish or Russian would be an asset.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Depth of experience in supporting and maintaining large-scale applications systems;
- Relevance of experience with administrative and operational systems, ECM and BPM systems built with Web development methods and tools or with ERP systems, such as Oracle Applications;
- Extent of experience with specific computing environments such as Windows Server, Unix/Linux, Oracle DBMS, PL/SQL, Apache/Tomcat and Java/JSP WEB development tools;
- Quality of both oral and written communication skills;
- Extent of ability in working independently with a minimum amount of supervision;
- Depth of aptitude in solving problems in a timely and tactful man
