Profile Requirements: Training Consultant - Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPCContext A Training Consultant is required to support the development of Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) within East and Central Africa. The IPC is a standardised scale that integrates food security, nutrition and livelihood information into a clear statement about the nature and severity of a crisis and implications for response. FAO together with core partners from WFP, CARE, Oxfam, FEWS, Save the Children and the European Joint Research Council, are working to further refine the IPC approach beyond its original development context is Somalia. As part of this initiative country applications have been identified in Uganda, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi and Tanzania, through a project supported by DFID-CIDA and EC ECHO. Under the framework of this project the training consultant will be based within the FAO Emergency Regional Office for Africa which provides secretariat support to the IPC Steering Group of the interagency Food Security and Nutrition Working. The training consultant will work under the direct supervision of the IPC Regional Project Manager, with responsibility for coordinating and conducting training for the field implementation fothe IPC within target countries in East and Central Africa. Responsibilities The Regional Training Consultant will work under the general supervision of the Chief of FAO's Emergency Operations Unit (TCEO), the technical supervision of the Food Security and Agricultural Projects Analysis Service (ESAF) and the direct Supervision of the IPC Project Manager. The consultant will coordinate and conduct training for the field implementation of the IPC within target countries in Central and East Africa.
