1) The Evaluation Service

The FAO Evaluation Service is responsible for the independent evaluation of FAO's work. For information on the Service, activities and products, see: http://www.fao.org/pbe/pbee/en/index.html

2) Who are we looking for?

The Evaluation Service has a continuing programme of evaluations for which suitable consultants are sought. Some of these assignments are Rome based and others are based in the countries where evaluation is taking place. Almost all require extensive travel. Our consultant requirements are continuously changing and the profile below is generic, specific requirements will be posted as they occur:

The assignment duration is variable, but typically ranges from one month to 11 months.

3) Requirements

The Candidates must all have knowledge of evaluation and developing countries. Knowledge of the international system is an advantage. In addition, the candidate must have a good working knowledge of the FAO language for the country or region concerned and for all global evaluations a strong working knowledge of written and spoken English.

4) How to apply

  • Applicants must complete the Personal History Form available in MS Word (A4 and letter formats) and provide a curriculum vitae and a letter stating their qualifications for the assignment.
  • Send the completed applications to Opportunities-Eval@fao.org

5) What happens next?

  • When we seek to appoint a consultant, we will review all relevant Personal History Forms, and, if we wish to pursue your application, we will contact you.
  • Emails received will be stored for a twelve-month period only. If twelve months have elapsed since your last email, and you are still interested, update your Personal History Form and re-submit following the process mentioned above.
  • Please do not submit applications for the same assignment more than once in any twelve-month period.
  • It would be advisable to monitor this site regularly for any updates or added consultancy profiles as the site is subject to change without notification.
