The Rural Infrastructure and Agro-Industries Division advocates and supports the development of entrepreneurship in agricultural support services.
FAO members are assisted with appropriate policies, strategies and methodologies for strengthening agricultural support systems and the delivery of services as well as technologies for production and post-production activities. The Division aims to assist farms and agribusinesses in developing managerial and technical skills for supporting production, post-harvest, infrastructural, marketing and financial operations related to developing and improving efficiency, effectiveness, competitiveness, and profitability of agricultural and food enterprises.

regional agro-industries fora
As a follow-up to the Global Agro-industries Forum (GAIF) organized last year jointly by FAO, UNIDO and IFAD in New Delhi (India) FAO is now organizing the Regional Agro-industries Fora in order to identify concrete and specific activities to be undertaken for the promotion of agroindustry and agribusiness in several regions.

The first 3 Regional Agro-industries Fora will be organized for Latin America, Asia and Pacific and Africa.

In collaboration with the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE), FAO will hold a workshop on "Innovative Policies and Institutions to Support Agro-Industries Development", as part of the technical program of IAAEs Triennial Conference of 2009, to be held in Beijing on August 16th 2009.
