Production prospects for 2013 cereal crops
 FAO forecasts global wheat output at 695 million tonnes in 2013, 5.4 percent up from last year’s harvest and just some 6 million tonnes short of the historical high in 2011.

 For coarse grains, FAO has set its first forecast for 2013 production at 1 266 million tonnes, 9.3 percent up from last year and a new record, well above the previous high in 2011.

 Global rice production in 2013 is tentatively forecast at nearly 498 million tonnes (milled terms), 10 million tonnes up from the latest estimate of output in 2012.
