The shelf and area with waters shallower than about 200 m outside Kenya was surveyed in the period 7-15 December 1982. Four months earlier, in August, the same area was surveyed by R/V Dr. Fridtjof Nansen. The 4 hydrographical sections worked in August were repeated. In trying to identify scattering layers a few pelagic trawl hauls were worked. In some of the shallower areas fish traps and longlines (70 hooks) were applied. The survey grid is shown in Fig. 1-2.
