Rome Food Summit ends with renewed appeal to eliminate hunger

Consensus on an Anti-Hunger Programme has been one of the major results of the World Food Summit: five years later.
At a Press Conference that concluded the event, Thursday, Dr. Jacques Diouf, Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), took the opportunity to clarify what the Programme would imply in terms of resources.

Rural Women at World Food Summit, Rome: The cases of Rwanda & South Africa

1. South Africa's Ulundi provincial Minister in the Department of Agriculture & Environment, Mr. Narend Singh at a seminar on Rural Women during the on-going World Food Summit in Rome, mentioned the country as a role model for the empowerment of women, through her institutional gender quota system and thus the ideal place to hold the forthcoming Summit on Sustainable Development, scheduled for Johannesburg.
