Building Resilience in Africa’s Drylands

About the event:

The event will start at 12:30 hours with an Opening Statement by the Assistant Director-General/Regional Representative for Africa (FAORAF), followed by a panel discussion that will include the following representatives:

  • H. E. Mr. Paddy Zhanda, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development, responsible for Livestock, Zimbabwe
  • H.E. Ms. Laurence Argimon-Pistre, Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Holy See, to the Order of Malta and to the UN Organisations in Rome
  • Mr. Fabian S. Muya, Agriculture Attaché, Alternate Permanent Representative, Embassy of Kenya in Rome
  • Mr. Ibrahim Lumumba Idi-Issa, Deputy Executive Secretary of Permanent Interstates Committee for Drought Control on the Sahel (CILSS)
  • Mr. Oumar Patcha, Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Chad

The panel will be moderated by Ms. Mona Chaya, Coordinator, Food Chain Crisis, FAO

The event will last one hour and will close at 13.30 hours. FAO’s Regional Office for Africa (FAORAF) will be offering light refreshments (food and drinks) to the attendees between 12:00 and 12:30 in the Flag Hall.

Purpose: The side event will showcase FAO's achievements and provide evidence on how the Organization has brought about changes or impacted developing countries and the global community.
