About the event:

The event will start at 12:30 hours with an Opening Statement by the Director-General, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), followed by a panel discussion that will include the following representatives:

  • Latin America and Caribbean: H.E. Mr. Javier Ponce Cevallos, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries, Ecuador
  • Africa:  H.E Mr. Allan James Chiyembekeza, Minister for Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, Malawi
  • Asia and Pacific: H.E. Mr. Phouangparisak Pravongviengkham, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Lao PDR

The panel will be moderated by Mr. Kostas Stamoulis, Coordinator Strategic Objective 1: Eradication of Hunger, Food Insecurity and Malnutrition, and Director of Agricultural Development Economics Division (ESA).

The event will last one hour and will close at 14.30 hours. 

The organizers will be offering light refreshments (food and drinks) to the attendees between 12:00 and 12:30 in the Flag Hall.

Purpose: The side event will showcase FAO's achievements and provide evidence on how the Organization has brought about changes or impacted developing countries and the global community.
