Migration and Food Security

About the event:

Migration and food security have multiple intersects, and for this reason they must be tackled together with a holistic approach. Working towards the achievement of the SDGs, the UN entities have put in place different international mechanisms to foster collaboration around migration and development, including the Global Migration Group (GMG).

This side event aims to prepare for the upcoming FAO’s co-chairmanship of the GMG in the context of the 2018 intergovernmental negotiations for the Global Compact on Migration. It will gather attention on the need to generate evidence, and to better incorporate food security and rural development issues into migration debates and policies.
