Chile’s Minister of Agriculture voices support for ICN2

At the 149th session of the FAO Council, Director-General José Graziano da Silva congratulated Chile on achieving the World Food Summit target of halving the total number of hungry people in its population. Chile's Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Furche, also voiced his support for ICN2, noting that, "these kinds of initiatives are very important because they have an impact not only on nutrition, but also on people’s quality of life”. He added that he supports the innovative approach to ICN2 of linking food and health--traditionally different fields of work in different ministries. “It is a happy coincidence that they are assuming this work together," he said.
