The XIV World Forestry Congress is an opportunity for the world to learn about, and from, Africa's achievements and experience in rising to the challenges of sustainable forest management.

The Commission of the African Union, in collaboration with the Republic of South Africa, Regional Economic Communities, FAO and African forestry institutions are organizing the Africa Day event in the Africa Pavilion to showcase Africa’s participation in the Congress. High-level participants from across the African political spectrum are expected to attend, including heads of state and government, ministers, eminent Africa experts and national focal persons.

The Day will provide a platform for dialogue and sharing of experiences on the role of sustainable forest management in dealing with climate change in particular. Renowned African scientists and researchers will focus on the role of forests in regional and national efforts in adapting to, and mitigating, climate change. Read the concept note to find out more about the session.

Who can attend?

All Congress participants are welcome to attend. African stakeholders are particularly encouraged to attend since it is their event.
