The official accounts of FAO are prepared for each financial period in accordance with the financial regulations set forth in the Organization's Basic Texts. The accounts are prepared according to United Nations System Accounting Standards (UNSAS), with each financial period consisting of two consecutive calendar years. The audited acccounts are published following certification by the External Auditor, as required by the Organization's financial regulations.
