“Nutrition is a public issue and a global responsibility” – President Humala

14 November 2014, Rome – Peruvian President Ollanta Humalla echoed FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva's call to treat nutrition a public health issue.

“Nutrition is a public issue and a global responsibility,” the President said at a meeting with the FAO Director-General. The First Lady of Peru, Nadine Heredia, also participated in her capacity as FAO Special Ambassador.

11 November, 2014, Rome - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met with Gennady Gatilov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Filipino farmers bounce back and build resilient livelihoods

7 November 2014, Rome/ Tacloban - One year after Typhoon Haiyan devastated coastal and farmland areas in the central Philippines, farmers and fishers are well on the road to recovery and building more resilient livelihoods.

FAO, in close collaboration with the government of the Philippines, is reaching out to communities in severely affected areas through some 22 projects across the MIMAROPA, Western, Central and Eastern Visayas regions.
